This guide will take you through all the steps necessary to start creating collections, minting NFTs, attaching physical items and anything else needed.
This is what you will need to get started:
A crypto wallet
ETH cryptocurrency in your crypto wallet
Enough ETH to pay any gas fees
You need to make sure you have a crypto wallet loaded with some ETH. When you mint NFTs you will need also to pay gas fees. Check out this article first if you need guidance on setting up a crypto wallet.
Connect your wallet to the RealNifty marketplace by clicking ‘Connect Wallet’ in the menu bar. Select the wallet you’re using and sign a transaction in your wallet (this transaction is free). Hey presto, you’re connected!
If you haven’t already, we suggest setting up your profile for the marketplace. That way, when you mint a collection people will be able to find out more about you and you won’t be a faceless wallet address. You can check out our guide to setting up your profile here.
Also, remember to make sure you connect the crypto wallet you applied with on the RealNifty marketplace. This wallet address will be the only one that gives you access to mint NFTs.
If you have connected the correct wallet, you will see a new button in the menubar called ‘Mint’. Click this button to begin creating NFTs.
A new form will pop up to begin creating your collection.
The first step is to choose a category for your NFT. this could be Art, Fashion, Music, or Collectibles. Pick the one that best fits the NFT you’re minting and any sub-categories that match. Click ‘Next’.
Now you have the choice to either add to a collection you have previously created or create a brand new collection. If you already have a collection you want to use, skip ahead to step 4.
Select a new collection and fill in the details needed. These include the collection name, description, thumbnail and collection images. click ‘Next’ When complete.
Now you will see the screen to create an NFT for your collection. Details needed on this screen included NFT name, description, and image upload. You also have a chance to set any digital rights, choose a wallet address for any royalties to be sent to and set a royalty percentage. If your NFT has unlockable content such as an image or QR code, you can also add these details. Click Next.
The next screen is designated for any physical elements or items attached to your NFT. If your NFT doesn’t have any, select no and move to step 6.
Select ‘Yes’ and input the contact/item origin delivery details for the physical item. This includes address, contact name, email and phone number.
You then have the option to select an object. Let’s assume you have a new object to add so select that.
You also have the opportunity to add ‘creator details’ if those details are different from the ‘contact details’ you previously entered. If so input these details. If they are the same, tick the box to confirm and the previous details you entered will be automatically populated.
Further details about the physical item are then requested to make sure we have all the information needed for delivery. This includes:
Description of physical item
Height/Width/Depth/Weight
Image of physical item
Estimated value
You will also be asked what (if any) physical rights are available to the person that redeems your physical item. For more information on physical and digital rights, check out this article.
If everything has been input correctly, the ‘Mint’ button will be available to click at the bottom of the form. If you are ready, click ‘Mint’!
The process of minting your NFT to the blockchain and adding it to the RealNifty marketplace will now begin.
You will have to sign a transaction in your connected crypto wallet as well as paying a gas fee. (Please note: gas fees fluctuate depending on how busy the network is. For more information, check out this article). This process can take a few minutes to complete.
You should then receive a message to let you know your NFT has been minted. Congratulations!
Your newly minted NFT can be found within your creator dashboard.
You will be automatically taken to this page but you can also find it by clicking your profile in the menubar. From the dashboard you have other options you can use with your NFT, including updating any unlockable content.
The ‘Created’ view in your profile also shows you any NFTs you have previously minted.
Repeat the above process for each NFT you create. If you want to add any to the same collection you’ve already created, the option will now be there to select a previously created collection.
Happy minting!
